I’m indifferent when it comes to Valentines Day… On the one hand, I know Valentines Day is really just a Hallmark holiday made up to make us all buy lots of pink heart shaped crap. One the other hand…I’m a total sucker when it comes to pink heart shaped crap lol. Let’s be real, I totally am “that girl” when it comes to Feb 14th.
What I really love about Vday is spending time with my girlfriend and figuring out creative ways to make her smile. Over the years (5 to be exact! But who’s counting 😁) I’ve taken her out to dinner, bought her flowers, bought her trips, I’ve even got our kissy faces printed on M&M’s ( yeah… she’s one lucky chick ) Although what I’ve learned over these 5 years is the real way to this girl’s heart is TEQUILA haha. Katie’s favorite cocktail is called El Diablo and it happens to be PINKKK! 💗🍸💗 So basically I get to be a total GIRL and make her happy on Valentines Day – pretty much a win win. 👌
Not sure if anyone else runs into this issue…aka your desire to be cutesy as all HELL without your girlfriend/boyfriend rolling their eyes. Well, your welcome… I’ve figured it out. El Diablo… little masculine (tequila), a little fem (pink) and just the juice to get a nice buzz going on for your night with the one. You sip with your pinky out and your boyfriend can man handle but YAY you’ve succeeded in creating the cutest Vday cocktail EVS.💞 💏💞
Ingredients:
2oz Tequila Blanco
3/4oz Fresh lime juice
1/4 Creme de cassis
1/2oz Ginger syrup (instructions below)
Soda Water
Process:
Ginger syrup // Peel and thinly slice 1/4 lb ginger (about 3/4 cup). Put cut ginger and 1 cup water, 1 cup granulated sugar into a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Bring to a simmer and stir until sugar dissolves. Then gently leave simmering, uncovered, for 30 minutes. The solution should start to thicken a bit. Strain syrup and set aside leftover ginger (or eat it if you like candied ginger!) If you have leftover syrup, save it! It’s good in the fridge for a month 😀
Cocktail // Pour tequila, lime juice, cassis, ginger syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake until cold and double-strain into a collins glass over ice. Splash with soda water and garnish with a lime peel to finish.
