A Luxe Spring Night Out in SF

As I get older grow up 😉, I find myself searching for “different” (tbh, more mature) ways to spend my evenings out. The nights playing pool at my neighborhood dive bar certainly had their time but replace that with an evening at a classy champagne bar followed by a performance by the SF Ballet and there is no question in my mind which I’d prefer now.

A few weeks ago, my 2 best friends, girlfriend and I had a fabulous night out on the town doing just this! 👭👬Everyone was super excited…champagne flowing and dressed to the nines – honestly, I was just as excited to have an excuse to dress up (they come far and few between in SF) as I was to experience this new “grown up” night out. Oh yes, we’re fancy now. 💁‍♀️💅

I did ballet from age 3-18 so I am very familiar with what a night at the ballet entails, however the rest of my group wasn’t. I was thrilled to pop their cherry and hear their thoughtful reviews as we walked onto the next bar  afterwards (classic move). Seeeeeee, the ballet is for anyone that opens their mind to it, don’t be intimidated.

Sometimes it takes trying something new to figure out how you really want to spend your free time – case in point: attending the ballet’s Unbound Program B. 👯‍♀️ The last act in the show was by far my favorite (pictured below), and actually was so well received it’s returning next year as part of the 2019 repertory season! 👏👏👏

If you decide to head out for a luxe SF night and enjoy the SF Ballet’s 2019 season I highly recommend a jaunt around Hayes Valley first as it’s walking distance from the theatre. My personal favorite pre-show destination, The Riddler has killer champagne flights and light bites so you’ll be feeling exceptional when you take your seat.✨🥂😄

PRO TIP: Get a glass of champagne at intermission because the theatre gives you the cutest lil’ lid to take it back to your seat with you! GENIUS. 🙌

My Daily Commitment to Female Empowerment

… Key word: daily. It begins there. Not at the next protest, although that’s always good too 😉

Last Sunday I tuned into the BBMAs and it got me thinking how powerless I am to watching female artists perform. I even seek out live shows of women I’ve never heard of,  just to watch them throw it downnnn on stage… there is something so empowering about watching a women perform.

It’s like the pinnacle of so many emotions, both positive and negative, that we feel as women translated through their song, body language, lyrics.

It’s everything. The power, the strength, the vulnerability, the intuition, the courage, the talent. I feel so inspired and empowered through female artists because they are able to capture all of these at once. It’s like the pinnacle of so many emotions, both positive and negative, that we feel as women translated through their art. Inevitably, making me reflect upon the world we live in today…how I’m empowered as a woman and how I can be empowering to other women.

As women, we’ve always been overlooked, just another person in the crowd. But I’m devoted to changing that, to stand out in the crowd, to stop traffic, to make an impact. I think most people shy away because they are too afraid of taking on a task so grand, but the effort doesn’t have to be the next political campaign or protest. Empowering other females can start small, in daily life… as simple as complimenting another woman you pass by at the gym or office or on the street. That little compliment could change their outlook on today, and provide them with more confidence. Confidence we need but has been chipped away at for so long. There’s no room for cattiness in this world. We’re better together than we are separate. 👭

We are in a place in time right now where women are finally speaking up, having the courage to change the societal norms and not stand for the misogyny anymore. It’s beyond exciting to be a part of, not just to witness but also to contribute to.

My hope in being an influencer is to spread more of this positivity and support to our amazing community of women, both online and offline. We need to cultivate and strengthen the female relationships around us. It’s so important to surround yourself with positive, forward-thinking individuals that support your own agenda and not bring you down. That we come together, as women, and empower each other, cause there ain’t nobody else that’s gunna do it for us! 😝

Female empowerment is propelled when surrounding yourself with the best people you can. I’m fortunate to have my girlfriend of 8 years, who is also an extremely strong woman, even stronger than myself, and inspires me to be stronger every day. Uplifting other women is just 1 step in a step of 1 million to continue the female empowerment path and reduce the struggle. Hoping that one day every single woman can stand tall and be proud of who they are. 🙌❤️

Now and forever, I am proud to be a women. I am proud to be gay. I am proud to be feminine.

How often does one have a reason to head to Corcoran, California? (Answer: never). Home to vast areas of farmland, the California State Prison, this sea of cows,  🔝🐮 annndddd my best friend from UCLA, Merrick (great reason)!! 😃👫

His family throws an annual pizza party where about 60 of the town’s finest come over for a pizza making contest, there’s prizes to be won! I’ve been a few times over the years but this was their last one so, of course, Katie and I had to drive 4 hours south to commemorate! #roadtrip

Anyway, we’re off the 5 and getting close when we pass the cows who were just begging mooooing to be my counterpart models. 😂😛 The car basically pulled itself over! Haha. After all, Merrick instructed me to take a “country chic” photo, so I had to deliver. 💁🏼‍♀️✨🐄

Enough cows, onto to THE LOOK. This matching set is Calvin Klein’s latest big splash and I’m OBSESSED – perfect to wear together or separate. It’s offered in a few color combos but this one is my favorite cause summer is coming, and that red just POPS. I’m thinking next time with gold cowboy boots, sans hat. 👌🏼💛

Plus, did you know?! Western is coming back baby! Time to dig up those old cowboy boots and strut like you mean it, cowgirl! 💃🏼 Western inspired styles are trickling into the fashion world and sure to hit full force by fall. I plan on getting ahead of it! 👍🏼🤠👢

Meet my newest purchase, these DVF shorts. Just snagged ’em in the nick of time (quite literally rush shipped to my hotel)!  I’m positive these shorts will be a staple all summer long, when I want to be a bit more put together than cut-off denim. 😉 Also can we talk about how fun this banana shirt is?! I’ve been getting so many good reactions (aka do yourself a favor and hope on board for the style love 😜🍌 )

This DVF Jumpsuit proved it’s worth when it landed me in the Coachella style round-ups of WhoWhatWear and Cosmo! But incase you don’t want to break the bank I found some similar floral jumpsuits (left to right, high -> low in price) that would pair equally well with Vans for that effortlessly cool girl vibe.

Also, incase anyone is wondering, this is the backpack I carried everyday at Coachella. Brought 5 down and kept coming back to this one (typical) because of it’s perfect size! It fit an extra pair (or three 😉) of sunnies, a small camera and all my other “festival necessities….” even a water bottle if I drank some an smashed it a bit! 😆😆 Can you say #legitminibackpack?

Fun summer slides in the house! A necessary shoe purchase for the turn of the seasons, entering these warmer months. I’m also loving this 90s deadstock top, I thrifted before the festival but linked some similar styles in the carousel above. Paired with a denim skirt and I’ll be living my 90s years all summer long.❤️💔

PS: I’ve been getting wayyy more use out of my denim skirt than I ever thought I would when I bought it last year. No regrets there!

First time EVER trying a self tanner so I was def a bit hesitant 😳 but this Coola Sunless Tan Dry Oil was easy to apply, manage and was super mild (they even have a face safe version). I honestly could’ve added more I think, but better safe than sorry!

After trying myself, I’m happy to recommend and hey… sometimes it’s best not to roast yourself just to get that sought after sun-kissed glow. 🙃☀️☀️☀️

Can’t complain when drenched in Diane Von Furstenberg. She’s hands down one of my favorite designers because when I wear her clothes I feel 100% myself, but better. The perfect combo of effortlessly cool, and fashion forward, and a bit more affordable than other “big name” designers. 🙌

If you haven’t already hopped on integrating the hottest color of the year into your wardrobe than you’re seriously missing out! I’ll let you in on a little secret… A birdie told me that millennial pink is out and lavender is in! 😱💜

I’m livingggg for these bucket bags (because they actually fit things 😆). Traveled around Europe last summer with one and now they are definitely having their *moment* and will be this summer’s “it” bag.

Not even kidding, these are the most commented on leggings I own! Something about that metallic gold splash against the gray, people can’t get enough of it!

I’ll admit, I’m not a pro when it comes to working out clothes…(afterall I only really started working out a year ago when I joined Crossfit to bulk up 😬). I love Lulu Lemon, warming up to Outdoor Voices, but then you have brands like this (🔝Beyond Yoga) who are so rad! I’m totally sold on the “fun” leggings now. Who doesn’t want compliments when they’re least expecting it, at the gym of all places?!

My Spring Into More Feminine Styles (Pun Intended)

I guess if there’s any a time to get a little extra dolled up, it’s spring! 🌸🌷🌸🌷 Helllooo garden parties, bridal showers, ladies brunches and obvi 👉flower making workshops (😂😉 tossed that one in there because we all know, at this point, it’s a real thing).

This is definitely one of the “fancier” looks I’ve worn in awhile, (funny because it’s probably a normal level of dressed up for most girls). But I’m not a girly girl, so anything that involves bows or kitten heels feels fancy to me! It’s funny that a change of shoe and a luxury knit jacket can make me feel alllll the womenly feels, definitely sophisticated above my years.

And a very luxurious spring jacket at that, because St. John Knits definitely costs a pretty penny. 😬 But, if you’re going to invest in a high-quality outer layer for the new season, than a visit to St. John is a must – they absolutely nail lightweight layers.

Florals or not, come spring, I always find my style taking an extra girly turn, no doubt to combat the masculinity my wardrobe faces during winter…craving some femme like a pregnant lady who can’t have wine! haha. But when I laid eyes on these bow slingback pumps, who wouldn’t! 🎀🤭

Plus, it’s fun to go the little extra mile sometimes to overdress, let the world know I showed up today. TAKE ME SERIOUSLY. haha. JK, that’s a tad aggressive and not the vibe of this dainty garden party look! 💁‍♀️

We’ll see if this touch of feminine carries through the rest of the season, but for now, hope you can find some style inspiration for your next spring soirée. 💃

Shop the Trend: Lavender for Spring

During NYFW I noticed the uptake in purple hues across many of the fall/winter runways. Now I see the color flooded across styles in my online shopping escapades. It’s official guys, purple is here! 🔮☮️🍆💜🍇🌂

Dare I go as far to say the coveted millennial pink is out and purple is IN. YES. I dare!

Pantone’s color of the year (ultra violet) is manifesting in fashion through a variety of purple shades, but my favorite right now? Lavender.  These sneakers were my first lavender purchase (classic me) but I shifted to slightly more “adventurous” styles when I got this crop top at the new Reformation store on Fillmore (👈😲) last week.

Let’s call a spade a spade, this itty bitty crop is hardly adventurous. More cutesy, dainty and feminine – all the things that I want to incorporate in my spring wardrobe after a heavy winter. It’s the perfect shade for spring, and will carry throughout the year. As an early adopter of the trend, I’m ready to heat and serve for  breakfast, lunch and dinner. After all, it’s supposed to be calming right? I could use some of that in my life. 😉

I can’t wait to see what other brands or new styles take on lavender into their palette.  Who knows maybe in summer the purple hue will shift to a brighter more “true to ultra violet” shade and then deepen for the fall. But until further notice, my eyes are set on these new lavender pieces. 👀💜

If you’ve been following me on Instagram Stories at all, you’ll know that Negronis have integrated themselves into my daily life. Ok fine, maybe not dailyyyy but I would have one everyday (if that wasn’t considering alcoholism 😆😬).

They’re basically just the best, at all times, for all occasions. So when I realized they were the base cocktail for a lot of other fun variations I knew I had to learn more, and experiment! Starting off easy though, with just one ingredient swap. In a Negroni, sub the gin for bourbon and you’ve got yourself a Boulevardier!
