I wish I could always tell you exactly where to buy what I’m wearing but unfortunately some of the BEST stuff comes from those special moments in a thrift store…in the best thrift stores in San Francisco, to be exact.🙌😜 When, after pulling hanger from hanger resulting in sore arms and mental exhaustion, the stars align and you lay eyes on that perfect piece. ✨🔛👀
Along with my first week of work came a new first for cocktails! I got this amazing Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur from Alchemy and have been DYING to use it! So I pulled it out and started playing around. Looked at some recipes up online (found lots of ideas so there’s more ancho to come😉) and decided to start with something simple to get a handle on this new liqueur. I found GOLD with this Ancho Old Fashioned recipe.
Ingredients (makes 1):
1 1/4 oz mezcal
1oz Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur
1/4 oz agave necter
Angostura bitters
orange bitters
1 orange
1 lemon
Process:
- Pour mezcal, Ancho Reyes, agave, 3 dashes Angostura and 2 dashes of orange bitters into a glass with ice.
- Stir well (approx 10-15 seconds), until glass begins to condensate so ingredients can chill
- Strain into a rocks glass over 1 large ice cube
- Cut long strips of orange and lemon peels with a vegetable peeler. Put both together and twist over the drink, rub along the rim of the glass and roll together into a rosette to use as garnish.
…OMGawwwwww did I make this?! (Literally blurted outloud when I had the first sip) Smell of orange fills the nostril on sip (make sure you twist/angle a proper aka longgg twist of peel around the rim and top). I thought the orange/lemon double up wouldn’t really make a difference but it did. 🙌🏼 Ancho Chile Liquer gives it a great spice quality.
If you’ve had an Old Fashioned (which you better have if your reading this blog 😝😝)… then its like a smokey old fashioned (aka Oaxacan Old Fashioned)….but then if you’ve had a smokey old fashioned this is like a spicy smokey old fashioned…AND YES YES YES 💯🙌🏼🍸
Basically… this ancho old fashioned is my new obsession… A little smoke a little spice, BOY is this drink nice – Happy Sippin’ Sunday!

The Facts
Style: Saison/Farmhouse Ale
ABV: 6.2%
Brewer: Tahoe Mountain Brewing Company
Location: Truckee, CA
Well we all know how I feel about beers conditioned with brettanomyces (exhibit A, B and C) – 🙌🙌🙌 the answer is always YES get into my basket and into my mouth! Then you add TAHOE Brewing Co on top of that?! and omg…What DO YOU WANT FROM ME?! Practically die and go to heaven with that combo… and this peach saison sent me there. 😋🤗🍺
TASTE TEST: Pours opaque bright orange, orange zest – but illuminating quite yellow. Decent carbonation, no head. WOW serious smell of apricots… And a gummy bear, white to be exact. Perfect mouth feel, reminds me of eating hella apricots at my cousins in the summertime… Can’t have imagined a better balance of flavors. Not too sour. Not too peachy. Not too farmy. WOW AGAIN. Like it’s actually the best of all worlds. 🍑🌿🍺
Great beer for those of you just dabbling into the sour game, as it maybe tastes more like a sour than saison, but not overly sour at all. 😃 As we all enjoy these last few warm nights before the light starts to fade and warmth starts to go, I highly recommend you do so with this Récolte Du Bois be in hand! 👍 The flavors couldn’t match up better with the change of season, remembering summer as we prepare for fall with this peach saison. 🌼🌼
Cheers to you this Sippin’ Sunday! And the last week of summer ahead! 🍻😎☀️🍻
(Just incase you’re like F the beer, I wanna know where I can get that goddamn skirt! 🤑😝) Then you can shop my outfit below 😉:

Can you rock dem overalls?!
YES
Overalls are so fun, are they not?! It’s like an instant transport back to running around the block ⛹ with your friends, playing imaginary games and basically being SO cute that you give the Stranger Things kids a run for their money. 😋🖖👾
For me, overalls can be tricky in the fit though. It’s about getting them jusssssst right – not too tight and not too loose (key word being “too” because the looser ones can be reallyyy fun sometimes 😜😜 haha). But they’re totally the perfect piece to invest in right now because easy wearing for summer and fall, soooo year round lol. Layer your overalls with a ringer tee or turtleneck sweater – bingo bango bongo. 🌟🆒🌟
Regardless, summer (camp) is NOT over just yet 🤓☀️ …. 7 days if anyone’s counting and I’ll be making the mostttt outta dem 7 😬
Shop my favorite overalls for now, fall, next year, last year, 1990s and your future self 😛 🤑:

A bit farther up north than I’m used to when wine tasting, but Calistoga is SUCH a gem. From the quaint little old time downtown, to the less crowded wineries, I could definitely stay here for more then a day or two. Since I’m in between jobs, my dad and I decided to take a journey up there last weekend for a cute less than 48 hour relaxaaaaationnnn vacaaaationnnn. 🙌☀️
I had such a good time that I needed to spread the word on the whats what of wine tasting in Calistoga since I feel like it’s a bit more untapped than the lower regions of the Carneros Valley. So I’ve compiled the perfect to-do list to knock a short stay in Calistoga outta the park! 😄😄😄
Last weekend I visited one of my best friends from UCLA down in San Diego, 👫☀️ and no joke I told him the ONLY thing I really wanted to do was go to the Modern Times Brewery. Beer addict much? 😬 (Well yes, but..) Modern Times has made a huge splash in the craft beer market in the last year and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about! Sure I’ve picked up their beer at Whole Foods from time to time but the breadth of offerings is so vast, one can only have the true MT experience at one of their 2 San Diego locations…or at least thats how I justify a trip down south. 😉😉
I headed to the Point Loma house, because who doesn’t love a giant post-it wall mural of Michael Jackson and a monkey!? 😂🙈 No, they actually had 16 beers on tap AND a coffee bar serving house brewed coffee. Beer AND coffee!? What is this, heaven?! 🍺☕️ Also, the vibe of the brewery is everything I expected: hipster, veryyy chill, friendly and a little funky. 🙌🌈
The homies got the regular tasting flight of Modern Times 4 staple brews and I got the specialty flight (better choice 😛) but either way you get the taster served in a cool old cigar box! My favorite’s were: The “Black House” (an oatmeal coffee stout), “Lomaland” (a saison, big surprise here 😏) and “Orderville” (A musty citrus IPA).
If your down in San Diego (a meggaaaaa craft beer scene) it’s definitely worth spending your Sippin’ Sunday at the Modern Times Brewery! 😄🍻✌️
*Pssss* After trying the variety of flavors they offer, I realized probably about 75% of their beers have a very slight to heavy hoppy/bitter flavor to them…so if you know you’re one of those “hops haters” I might suggest going to Stone Brewing around the block (also a fab experience🙌🍻).

Transport back to the early 2000s… visions of me at a preppy high school wearing juicy tracksuits, boys layering polos, and yes… ME in a Lacoste or Ralph Lauren Polo 🙀👚 frolicking on the fake grass we had in the courtyard (yikes 👀 ). Seeing old pics reminds me of the terrible fashion of the early aughts and how I shunned those trends from there on out; aka you wouldn’t catch me dead in a polo! ….That is….until I found a new way to style them…. 😏 😏
How? High waisted flares hayyy! 👌👌 And just like that 3 appeared in my closet *magic* 😜 This pant style (either flares or wide leg) will totally give you an update to the polo look. Most important thing to nail this style is the high waist… untucked polo with low rise flares ➪ barf early 2000… BUT tucked in polo with high rise flares ➪ gold👍🌟. Add a wide or skinny belt on there to finish off the look (which I admittedly forgot to wear 😳) .
Shop revamped, 2000’s crushing, retro, sassy polos:
Complete the look with my favorite high waisted pants:
And so…Welcome to the new world of polos! Not sure what I enjoy more, the fact that I’m revamping this typical preppy, golf club item into a hipster fashionista 70s inspired dream OR that I now have ONE item in my closet that is now “golf club” appropriate… the irony. 😝⛳️💃
