HAH. Imagine my joy in discovering this oh so real fun fact – toooo applicable.😁 So besides me fighting delirium tremens every Monday of the year………here’s the real deal. This beer is happy. Seriously, it’s grinning…cant you see it?! No? Well it for sure alwayssss puts a smile on my face. I mean whats not to smile about?!…Those cute pink elephants doing flips on the label? God, I know, they are SOOO depressing. 😉

Being the package whore that I am, when I saw Delirium on the shelf I was like “OMG WHAT IS THAT BOTTLE! OMG I NEED THOSE ANIMALS! So adorableeeee…. Wow that would be a hella cute flower vase maybe?… Or maybe I should just stare at it forever, or hoard the bottle…ok ENOUGH” and just like that it leapt onto the counter. Cha-ching. End of story. Now pleased to announce that the beer lived up to my over eager label buying. 😊😊😊 

TASTE TEST: Golden brown color, definitely some richness in flavor there but it just smells like a beer to me haha. Hints of cherries or berries, a slight sweetness going on but also a lingering spice. Weirdly I can actually taste the alcohol in it, interesting no? I don’t mind it. Certainly light and refreshing – wait what’s that? Flowers, lavender? Almond? Grandmas lotion? lol maybe not… that’s weird…or is it? I’m seriously tasting and spitballing here. Theres no wrong answer!! Wrapping up, I’d say there is an initial softness ending with increased bitterness, overall well balanced bitter/sweet. 

Verdict? I’d say it’s the Hulk version of a classic Belgian ale – moreeeee body 💪. It does NOT taste like a Stella (jesus) contrary to popular belief by Yummertime. 😜 OK honestly, if you’ll only try it for the cute bottle I’ll understand. (Hey – whatever gets you branching out!) Delirium Tremens is PERFECT for the person who’s “starting” to like craft/better beers because it’s familiar yet, well…better lol. (Did you know it actually won “best beer in the world” before?!?!!! ⭐️) So if you’re going to branch out this summer then you might as well start with this lil pink elephant. 😋🐘💕

So, even though I first grabbed this bottle cause I was feeling ‘fun’ slash going to the beach, I am totally a Delirium repeat offender… And I’m not sorry!! It’s a year-round staple for sureee.👌

Channeling That Beach Grunge

Yes I said it, beach grunge. Is that a thing? Welp, now it is! I mean we know the oh so popular hipster grunge that infiltrates almost every member of the Mission… but what is beach grunge you ask?👆

It is less about the “dirty hipster” vibe more about a “refined sweatpants” vibe. Somewhere between the flannel wearing, un-bathed and the polished Cali-casual is the wind-blown beach goer. Are you visualizing this spectrum?! Good.

So how do you achieve such “beach grunge”? Simply put: Lose the black add the white. Lose the half-frames add the sunnies, lose the ripped skinnies add the baggy denim. You get the idea, right?

Hmmm….I’ll break it down for you one more time…

  1. Oversized shirt…so you inflate like a parachute in the wind and soar the bay of course! 😂 Jk jk, the real point here is to find one with some structure/shape, no Kanye in a tall-tee ladies. Oversized from your dad’s closet is messy but structurallllyyyyy oversized and you’ll trick people into thinking your way less lazy then you feel 👌 (personally, my goal most days of the week haha)
  2. Baggy pants!!!! But, for the love of god, not sweats. Denim, harem, boyfriend style pick your poison just as long as they don’t look like they came from your campus student store 😁
  3. Flannel around the waist. Utilize incase the wind at the beach picks up? Hmmm haha let’s be real…It’s tied there for show, because who doesn’t want some 90’s cool in their life. Plus I needed to solidify the soon to be Webster definition for “beach grunge” by the snagging a flannel reference. (Note: stick to the “summer” palate not a lumberjack flannel or you’re on a slippery slope back into city hipster land)
  4. Trade the combat boots for some classic Birkenstocks, or even some over-worn white converse, blasting you towards the Cali-casual side of the spectrum👣 😎
  5. Tousled hair. I let mine blow out at the beach and then threw it up in a pony for the messy yet refined finishing look.

So, best part about a low-key Monterey trip with just best friends?! BEACH GRUNGE. No wardrobe stress. Bring on loose fitting errthang and take off those bras!!!!!… No? too hippy for you?😝😝 Nonsenseeeee people you can’t fool me! I know every one of you rips it off upon unlocking the front door. PUH-lease✋.

“Ohhh faack” she says as she takes that first sip of Havana at 11:08 PM on a Wednesday night…hm…. and by she I obviously mean me writing this post right now lol. I kid you not, I am sipping Havana on the rocks at the moment. Also ironically wearing a black wide brim hat (I promise I did not plan this lol) trying to decide which size to keep and testing one out HAHA. Cause that’s totally normal right? This is exhibit A of that indecisiveness I was talking about earlier….💁

Second sip goes down… “Well I guess we’re doing this!” I mumble out-loud and realize I am definitely talking to myself…still for some reason in third person???

So let’s state the obvious, yes this is a TBT post to France last month, but you don’t gotta be in France to wear a black one-piece to the beach! It’s sooo hot this summer! The suit, not the weather 😜. Literally I’ve been searching hi and low for the perfect black one-piece and finally found THE ONE at Onia. Their halter suit is the perfect ratio of sexy to conservative. Remember people, this is very important: sexy not slutty.

So now… 🙏 I DEMAND you go get a black one-piece of your own and be fierce allllllllll summer long.

OH WAIT there’s more to report on summer beachwear…

NEWS FLASH: I don’t care what kind of girl you are, you need to feel what it feels like to wear a big hat. Sporting this bitchin’ headwear is super empowering. Like Beyoncé status (andddd you’ll never get sunburned! hahaha😳 ). Can it please be summer ALL year long?! Cause I do not want to take it off one bit!!!

The romper I bought at the Nikki Beach store (yeah you can shop on premises – reeedic) but WHO knew you can actually find this designer at Needless Markup Neiman Marcus. I have always been obsessed with Missoni for their color/pattern choices so I instantly gravitated to this jumpsuit. But we all know how I LOVE my jumpsuits 😉

Summer in Lake Tahoe

You may have noticed, but I have been in Tahoe A LOT recently…like a lot, a lot. Well, I guess just 2 back to back weekends but it still feel substantial. And those two back to back weekends used to be 2 back to back weeks in a row when I was a kid (should I say back-to-back one more time!?😜)…….…ugh the 9-5 grind….If you want to escape that grind for the weekend Lake Tahoe is your answer!!!

I’ve been coming up to this big blue lake since I can remember. For winter, for summer, you name it! I feel SO connected to Tahoe; it holds such a dear place in my heart. So it felt absolutelyyyy necessary for me share some of that Tahoe magic with you guys.

Tahoe means, ahhhhhhhhh. Ok, but really. Tahoe means boating, floating, good company, too much wine, canoes, otter pops, corn hole, hiking, biking, warm docks, old cabins, beers, relaxation, funky finds, waterskiing, fireworks, tradition, lakeside lunches, fires, sweat pants, card games, laughing, bears (oh my!), tournaments, rafting and most importantly…my favorite smell in the WORLD!🌲🌲🌲That moment, when you step out of the car from a long drive and smell the pine trees all those things👆 come flooding back to you. This smell = California’s summer vacation…and lets be honest, really really clean air. 😛

The amount of experiences you can get in one place is what makes Lake Tahoe SO effing epic. Dial it up or dial it down. You can go absolutely bonkers dancing in the cozy living room to Michael Jackson classics while tossing back Jell-O shots. Or you can chill out on the beach reading all day and mosey up for a nice bbq to seal off the night.

Obviously focusing on summer here – you really can’t go wrong staying anywhere around the lake. My personal favs are Glenbrook Bay and Tahoe City. Glenbrook Bay is stunning and secluded. Once your there it’s more about staying put at your house and enjoying swimming, golfing or water sports – HINT: the water stays flat there until the late afternoon sometimes!! No need to rise at 6:30am for the good water in this beautiful bay. But if you go to Tahoe City/North Shore there are few things you gotta do:

  1. Check out their local craft brewery (because obviously this wouldn’t be a Chasing Kendall post without the mention of CRAFT BEER 😋…but it’s also really good).
  2. Eat at Sunnyside restaurant (and do NOT skip out on the Hula Pie for dessert🍰)
  3. Two words: Tahoe House.🙌 Grab some awesome house-made dressing and grilling marinades (I’m mildly obsessed 😁- more on these to come). And don’t forget to get there early so you don’t miss out on all their warm, fresh baked, soft, thick, OMG im droooooling, ham & gruyere croissant or cinnamon roll.
  4. Head to Boatworks Mall where you can find all sorts of rentals, parasailing, jet-skiing etc. Not to mention my favorite old candy store and clothing boutique. 🍬👗🍭
  5. Drive/boat down to Sugar Pine Point for a lovely lakeside picnic or keep going to see the beautiful Emerald Bay. 🌅

*I would mention raft a.k.a float the Truckee River but there hasn’t been enough water the past couple years. 😢 If it does get good though make sure to bring an extra raft to hold a cooler full drinks 😉 NOT limeritas please.

Whether I come up with extended family, dad’s frat buddies, the UCLA Board Club or an intimate group of besties, it’s JUST perfect every time. That is what is so great about this place – no one can complain. Its pretty much invincible :) 

There is still a half of summer left, meaning plentyyyyyy of time to get your buns up there!!! Seriously GO!

….I know I’ll probably get one more weekend in 😉🙏😉

So today is the BIG day. The big ol’ quarter century birthday. Do I feel older? Who knows honestly! People always ask that but I never quite understood the question cause what would that feel like? haha. Anywhooo I guess I do feel weird that my 20s are halfway over, eeeek. That sucks haha. So in that sense, I feel a bit older I supposeeee. 😁

My family has been doing this Tahoe trip every year on the same week. So every year my birthday is in Tahoe, but who could complain about that?! We have tons of friends, kids, dogs, drinks, food etc up here so plenty of fun to be had!!!!! In fact, I am about to hit up a birthday lunch for some yummy cocktails (duh). Then who knows! Maybe zoom across the lake for more cocktails🍹 or maybe bring the hand-crafted wood beer pong table down to the lake and play some flip cup on the beach 😜😜 Cause that was absolutely EPICCCC last year and there is nothing I want more than to play drinking games…but that’s an always, not just a bday thang. Thank god these kids love to play as much as I do!!!! 😄

Enough said…I’m off to enjoy my 25th birthday!!!!! WOOOO HOOOOOOO 🎈⭐️🎉⭐️🎉⭐️🎈

Confession: I am obsessed with 2 things right now… Two piece matching sets and Sandro Paris. So when I saw them combined I actually almost BURST into an explosion of rainbows and glitter. 🌈✨🌈✨ And then dress me in both and plop me in the middle of gorgeous Lake Tahoe and….omg hyperventilating….deep breaths… Okay, let’s talk about the first.

WHAT is it about twosies??? Seriously, someone answer me, WHAT? cause they are so gooooood! They have this immediate draw to them. Like, instant bad-ass status. Maybe I’m drawn to the fact that its closer to “menswear” on the spectrum, like the modern day pantsuit? maybe.. no? yes? What do you think? haha. Either way, girls can totally pull it off, and look HOT in them. Or maybe I am more drawn to the ultra-fun prints these matching sets usually come in. Either way – WIN, WIN fsho. 😄

And then don’t even get me started on Sandro….their entire summer collection is GOLD. Currently, browsing the site and adding ev-er-y-thinggggg to my cart (sidenote: it’s all on sale now so go get it before it sells out! 😉). Such vibrant colors, colors you don’t usually see in fashion…and we all know my weakness for saturation. 😍 Her line even has a little 80s vibe going on this season, are 80s becoming the new 70s?! Maybe! But we all know the 70s will be around for fall too (phew). Digging her 80s vibe mucho right now though….ok, ok, annnd her peppered in 70s feel. And then I just about DIED when I found this Sandro fun-fact so I had to share verbatim:

“We’re targeting a girl who’s street-smart and cool, who loves fashion and wants to get dressed for everyday – not just for a party! This season the Sandro girl is boyish and street smart, but still wants to feel feminine.”

Soooo I think its literally me bottled up into a little bow haha. Major THANKS Sandro, for designing the clothes that represent who I am. 🙌

I think it’s fair to say that anyone from California has a good amount of “cali pride”….wouldn’t you agree? I mean, I certainly do. It’s a very special place, to say the least. So I’m gunna go ahead and toot your horn, California! 😜 🙌

People have their stereotypes of us…we all know this. The surfer🏄, the hipster 👓 , the techy 📱, the farmer 🍊, the adventurer 🚵, the superficial💅, etc etc. And actuallyyyy I would have to agree that a lot of people uphold these stereotypes quite well, while others assume multiple at once and others none at all. My point being – it’s an eclectic place we live in!! (Note the amount of applicable emojis below LOL👇)… Free to be who you are, whoever that may be, and for THAT I am sooooo happy/lucky/proud to be a Californian. 

Though I suppose at this day in age, you could almost say the same thing about America as a whole lol. But can everyone go skiing and wake boarding in the same day?! Or be stuck in downtown city traffic but picnicking oceanside the next? Or go for a morning surf then head into the dry desert heat? NOPE! Wow, all this praise has “California Dreamin’” steaming thorough my temples right now haha. There is SO much love, I’m borderline absolutely OBSESSED with California, hah! 😁😁 

Which is why when I saw this vintage sweatshirt at Eden & Eden, my eyes lit UPPP!!! 😍 A worn in sweatshirt?! YES. Cool map illustration?! YES PLEASE. WAIT hold up – a Californiaaaa map illustration?!?!?!? YASSSSSSSS HONEY. I was in love… instantly.

And yes you caught me, I changed sunglasses with the same look – this is VERY typical Kendall haha. Anyone that knows me, knows I’m obssessssssed with sunglasses (maybe even more so then CA?! 🙊). Literally, I cannot resist, it’s a problem. Maybe all that California sunshine got me like, more sunglasses please!! 😄 It’s an every day occasion for my (indecisive) self to carry around at least 2 pairs in my bad every day. Cause WHO knows, the light might change or maybe my mood changes or maybe I just really REALLY wanna wear both so I switch half way through the day. hahaha. I’m a mess. So clearly I needed 1 pair for water and one for land 😝 …I effing love sunglasses. ❤️😎
