The Facts
Style: Old Ale
ABV: 10%
Brewer: Prairie Artisan Ales
Location: Tulsa, OK

Sippin’ Sundays this month will be featuring all ultra holiday drinks – both cocktails and beer – but all holiday spiced, flavored and themed to get you ALL ready and excited for the grande finale of this month (aka XMAS) Had to find a christmas beer and I wasn’t about to go for the obvious Magnum of Anchor that you see in grocery stores…No, my christmas beer had to be something betterrrrrr.

TASTE TEST: Rich dark brown with amber hues, dark chocolate coffee color too. smells of toffee and vanilla. “wow thats good!” I said to myself on first taste. plum and dark cherry notes – a slight sweetness, prob due to the high alcohol. little bitter and little sour too. giving it a very nice balance of all flavors, its not “toooo” anything.

Interesting…flavors mellow out and blend well when the beer isn’t SUPER cold. By the second poured glass from the bottle,  it was even better… smoother. Less hit you in the face with high alcohol content. the more i drink it the more I like – JUST what I want from a winter beer. Especially the dipped white wax top, adds the perfect “snowcapped” seasonal touch.

Gunna head back down the block now to see if Healthy Spirits has any more of these! So good! Go grab one, cheeeeeeeers!

Resort Wear

kendall chase of chasing kendall in hawaii resort wear

Resort wear SCREAMS bold oversized prints, linen and big hats. Like, can’t you just hear every tropical hotel shouting “You better wear your biggest hat and breeziest linen or you can’t sit with us!!!!!!”… Total mean girl status. But it’s not as hard to appease as you think! 😉

Sustainable Shopping, Part 3

selects_1126

What is it… earth day? No, earth month already?! Jk I know that’s in April not November… and clearly it’s obviously most definitely Black Friday, which is now sounding very much like the opposite of earth day haha but conscious shopping is trendy year round!! So Part 3 of sustainable fashion has arrived.

In the spirit of the BIGGEST shopping day of the year, and following along with my pledge to post sustainable shopping links through November…Shop the links below, nuff said.

  1. I’m absolutely dying over this Everlane chunky black turtleneck
  2. Easy layering with this slim yet forgiving gray sweater from Cuyana
  3. A black scarf is a staple for every girls fall/winter wardrobe, no matter your style.
  4. Give any outfit that extra flare with a pair of these tortoise shell eyeglasses.
  5. Warby Parker teams up with Maiyet, creating the triple B threat: Bangin, Big, Black sunglasses
  6. This hand dyed maxi skirt was made in Ghana! It’s color and pattern make this typically spring piece totally winter appropriate.
  7. I personally am ALWAYS in need of more basic white tees, but this one’s scoop next and box cut just jumped it to the top of my list!
  8. Cuyana kills it again with their gorgeous classic leather tote (psst. it comes in practically every color!). Carry this bag to work, running errands or on a weekend getaway with friends – literally, leather tote = always.
  9. Slouchy wide leg pants are this years must have! But I ain’t complainin’ cause finally we don’t have to sacrifice comfort for fashion.
  10. 100% cashmere gray scarf? Duh! Your neck will die and go to heaven.
  11. Take a risk and pair your maxi skirt with sneakers like this! These gray felt suede sneakers from Toms will totally achieve that sporty chic look.
  12. Time to replace that old work bag with this Matt & Nat crossbody. The fig color is unexpected and will definitely elevate your look but still match with practically anything!

Now get to shopping! I myself will try and hit a few online sales (my girlfriend has been making fun of my faces as I keep opening emails with all these amazing deals haha) but who knows if I can squeeze it in my very busy day of sun bathing and drinking piña coladas.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY YAYYYYY YAYAYAYYAY AYAYYYYYYYYY. I’m off to Hawaii! Clearly like a kid in a candy store, I cannot hide my excitement one bit! Hawaii time is NOW. Even though this is somewhat of a family tradition, I think I am extra excited this year because of what a work whirlwind that life is currently! I neeeeeeeeeeeeed this vacation. 🌴🙏🌴

So how did I prep for the Big Island?! Besides eating a shitload of candy, 🍰 then a coconut Kara’s cupcake, then getting a mani/pedi today (which b-t-dubs, don’t ever space out and wear tights and boots to a pedicure appointment…awkwardddd tight removal😬) here’s my list of island essentials for a bomb ass time on the beach!

  1. First and foremost, personal Myers’s Rum bottles for floaters on those endless piña coladas! (this is ghetto but hotels charge like $10 extra bucks for that! hehehe so bring your own to whip out 😝🍹)
  2. Some way to document your gorgeous time in paradise! For me, it’s my vintage Nikon film camera 📷
  3. A great beach bag to shlep the mags and sunscreen around! Loveeee this cute and totally functional canvas backpack (psst! if you want your own use code: chasingKENDALL15)
  4. Chapstick….WITH SPF!!!!!
  5. And it wouldn’t be Hawaii without some kukui nuts 😉
  6. Bumble and Bumble surf spray to tame out those ocean drenched locks….orrr give you that look if your chillin on the beach the whole time 😜🏄
  7. A killer one piece swimsuit and large sun hat 👌
  8. A new book to read…nothing more relaxing than finally attending to that reading wishlist that you’re too busy for during the grind. I’m STOKED to dive into Garance Dore’s new book: Love x Style x Life.
  9. One word: linen.
  10. Last but not least the MOST important of them all – “My Little Steamer” – this will change your life, I promise. It is such a key item to own, everyday and every vacay. I alwaysssss bring with on vacations to steam out suitcase wrinkles in seconds!

So, there we have it! All the items setting me up for success on the Big Island. Now that I have been writing about Hawaii for the last half hour all I can think in my head is this: Aaaaahhhhloooha!!!!! (👈 so yeah… I thought it said that in 👇 song’s chorus so it’s all I can hear. Ha, jokes on me!)🍍

Apple Pie Hot Toddy

Pantones of the Post

We all felt it! That moment right after Halloween when the temperature just dropped. It was like the SECOND November hit, San Francisco decided to leave its Indian Summer behind and all its residents preparing to face the chilly winter with…….of course, alcohol (like any true San Franciscan!😉)

So, in the spirit of hibernating I bring you the Apple Pie Hot Toddy! Remember last weekend when I visited the SF Mead Co?? Well I picked up a bottle (don’t worry you can also find at Whole Foods) and decided to play around with mead cocktails! And I was not let down! Supa yummyyyy and takes 5 minutes! 👌

Ingredients:

2 oz Apple Pie Mead
1 1/2 oz Bourbon
1 1/4 oz Domaine De Canton
3 oz hot water
1/2 tsp. fresh ginger
1 lemon
1 orange
1-3 dashes of orange or regular bitters (optional)

Process:

  1. Muddle ginger in a warm glass with juice from a lemon wedge.
  2. Pour in spirits and hot water (you may have to adjust measurements slightly based on glass size).
  3. Add a couple dashes of bitters (optional – but I never think it’s a bad idea😊)
  4. Give glass a few soft stirs
  5. Garnish with an orange peel or orange wheel with cloves in rind

Warm up this Sippin’ Sunday or impress your family on Thanksgiving by whipping up one of these bad boys after stuffing your face with turkey! It is the perfect way to end a big meal and sooth your full stomach. 😋 The addition of the Apple Pie mead is phenomenal. The mead and the ginger liqueur act as sweetener with extra flavor, bringing a new dimension to this traditional winter cocktail. 💃 💃

Sustainable Fashion, Part 2

sustainable fashion clothing items to shop

As promised Part 2 of sustainable clothing to shop has reached the blog! This time, flavored with a bit more “urban cool girl” as opposed to “casual chic girl”,  but all stamped with the Kendall seal of approval desire. 🙏🙏😝

(But not just cause the clothing is sick as f*ck! but because its all…dun dun dun, SUSTAINABLE)

Sustainable fashion has been on the rise for a few years now, and it’s here to stay! Enough fun facts, get to shopping!
