Savoring Winter

plaid1

How crazy is it that we’re almost halfway through January.😯 I actually got stressed this weekend that winter was ending soon, and thats not even true, so I’m clearly loosing it. But that’s how life feels sometimes! Always chasing the next thing, but wanting to stay in the present, and constantly constantly running out of time.

But just incase I blink and it’s spring (which very well could happen, after-all winter sales are already happening everywhere), I’ve made a personal pact to dress extraaaa wintery while I can!

My 3 weaknesses in the fashion department: sunglasses, shoes and coats. I can’t get enough, will always buy one that catches my eye… and take it with me to bed at night, of course.

The issue with the latter is that they just haveee to be damn seasonal!! And no thank you, I will not be moving to Russia anytime soon. 😬 So I’ve developed an irrational fear that winter is now ending…and so the coat wearing scramble begins…

But really, don’t you just hate when all of a sudden you realize your favorite fur coat hung in your closet all season long and you forgot/ran out of time to wear it!?!? DON’T let that happen people! I’m warning you now!

I’ll be channeling something between The Revenant and Frozen every time I get dressed this month and want you to remember:

Breathe Winter. Wear Winter. Live Winter.

….. until of course it’s time to change the clocks forward and get some freakin’ daylight in after work, then fuck winter and hello spring! haha. 😝

The Improved White Russian

russian1

Da nun na nahhhh!!!….. It’s ski season!!!!!🎿🏂 Are you as excited as I am?!  Ok, but what does ski season reallyyyy mean? It means aprés ski….aka winter drinking! 🍻 Cause let’s be real, we all know by now that I wouldn’t be skiing without the reward of a nice beer or cocktail post mountain run. One of my go-to wintery cocktails to enjoy aprés ski is… the White Russian.

So in the spirit of hitting the slopes next weekend, for this Sippin’ Sunday I bring you the improved White Russian. 👌

Cozy Up In These!

cozyitems2

Maybe it’s because I got back from Cabo last weekend, or maybe it’s because it’s just EFFING FREEZING here….but I have been ALL about cozying up this January. Finding excuses to wear soft joggers to work and oversized sweater coats wayyy to often (aka constantly wanting to be in PJs and my obi-wan robe); or somehow being the only person on Muni in gloves ….? What’s up with that!? Hey all you crazy people, I have news for you – it’s cold!!!

So in efforts to help you stay snuggly and warm (but really satisfying my own desire to be constantly swaddled in a blanket 😛), I have pulled some of my favorite cozy items for you! Shop the links below:

  1. I could hole up at home in this jumpsuit ALL day. Plus, throw on some boots and a large sweater over it to nail your casual weekend brunch look in under 5 minutes!
  2. Big + chunky + soft = everything I want in a winter beanie 🙏
  3. Um, you had me at Sherpa coat…err no, you had me at reversible… No, WAIT you had me at REVERSIBLE SHERPA COAT!? 🙀
  4. I practically slid down a cloud into a puddle of kittens when I pictured slipping my hands into these bad boys (furry mittens)
  5. Have you ever heard of a sock with aloe, yes aloe, on the inside?!? Well now you have! 👏👏 #winning
  6. Helloooo belted sweatpants – camouflaging the sweats, displaying the pants? I’ll take all 3 colors please.
  7. What cozy day would be complete without the perfect porcelain mug!? ☕️
  8. All the rage right now, these sneakers will get you that widely desired balance of casual chic (not to mention the obvious comfort factor). So if you haven’t gotten on board, then step into the New Year girl!…It’s time. 👟👟
  9. Admitting I’m a sucker for anything and everything soft, this furry beanie is to die for! 🐻
  10. Wrapping up with the #1 cozy up staple (but really all winter staple), a solid cashmere turtleneck

My proposition for you this weekend is to snuggle up on the couch with a LARGE glass of vino and shop shop shop and snuggle and shop and snuggle and shop for snuggly clothes while snuggling.

Stay warm! 💋‍

Day Night Style Travel

Poolside to Party

glam1

Being able to transition quickly from day to night wear is just as important on vacation as it is at home after work, sometimes. Presumably you don’t have a strict schedule if you’re on vacay, but if you’re anything like me and like to stay wallowing in the sun until you start shivering in the dark on your chaise lounge, well, then you need to be able to glam it up for din in a hot second…this is something I’ve mastered. 😜

A killer jumpsuit is one of the easiest ways to lounge around, in style (proof #2). Oh wait, and also one of the easiest ways to go out… in style! hehe. So how does one glamorize glamatize a jumpsuit??

glam2-2 feet1-2

Daytime:

  1. Go for a natural beauty look: tan lip, minimal makeup and messy hair – tossed waves or a loose bun👆
  2. Sunglasses are a must, of course…
  3. And so are you’re favorite pair of chic sandals – no Rainbows and jumpsuits please 🙏😝
  4. Skip the jewelry (you’re going to be swimming anyway right?!🏊)

Nighttime:

  1. You can blow out your hair but, for the ultimate ‘wow’ impact, slick your hair in a cleaner, higher bun (the bun/jumpsuit combo is 🔥) plus it’ll also save you a shower! – which is always my main goal hahaha 😁
  2. Keep the lips nude but add a (sexy) darker smokey eye …and a light coat of bronzer, you sun-kissed beauty babe, you!
  3. Next, find ultra-high, chunky glamazon heels 👠 (…and a little shine never hurt anyone either 😉 ✨)
  4. Slap on that jewelry!! When in doubt, go (chunky) gold cause with the jumpsuit you’ll feel that badass 70s glam, like you may have just stepped off the disco lit floor. 🌟💃🌟

…And may I suggest….the only other thing possible to complete ANY other glammed up night look is a bottle of Veuve Clicquot by your side at ALL times. You shall reignnnnn! 👑💎👑💎👑

Less time to dress, more time to relax + party = my kinda lifestyle.👌 Now get on living and Happy New Year babes! 😙

Packing For Cabo…Wabo

cabopack1

Cabo is two parts crazy and one part classy…or maybe its the reverse. either way you gotta be prepared for anything and everyyyything. “Class it up or trash it down” (as my dad likes to say) 😂

As a result the packing list is endless and I always, ALWAYS overpack. but how are you supposed to know what the weather is like, or whether you’re in for a night of mayhem and champagne showers in town or a casual drinks and dinner on the beach…its goes both ways…and so does… well nvm… 😜

For a trip such as this, I split my packing into 2 “sets,” if you will… the “fun pack” and the “practical pack.” The following is how I divide:

The Fun Pack set includes: Polaroids (capture what you DON’T want on the internet), ping pong balls, Aleve, reflective sunglasses, crazy hat, iPod (not pictured: wigs ….if you’re as over the top insane as my girlfriend😉)

The Practical Pack set includes: Sun hat, Birkenstocks, bikinis galore, face protection (Philosophy SPF face lotion and SPF Coola chapstick (literally my FAV), beach reading – although this book boarders on the fun pack, err maybe rather a result of the “fun pack” as I will def be needing some “Damn Good Advice” after partying there👅✌️

Stick to one set or another or mix and match for the ultimate Cabo experience (highly recommended).👌

Now to quote my dad again, “It’s Cabo time.” *BANG* 💃💃🍹🍹🍹🍹🌴

The Saints Go Marching On (Champagne Cocktail)

champ1

Given that Judgement day just happened and we all passed…. aka we got presents on christmas, I’d say were all in the “good” category. Errr well, what I mean to say is we’re all obviouslyyyy saints. Although St. Nick might not be too happy about me dolling out his title so soon after his hard work😁 (sorry 🎅). BUT it’s about to be the New Year and I’d like to go into it with a saintly halo over my head — wouldn’t you? And so, we march on into 2016….and I’m begging you to do it with a better choice of cocktail! 😜

Yes, champagne is ‘the drink’ on New Years, but why not step it up this year? If not to impress your party guests or friends, than at least to get more bang for your buck (meaning… drunk sooner with less calories consumed while avoiding a future champagne hangover – cause those are the worssssssttt!)

champ2 champ3

Modified from the Elder Fashion Royale I bring you, “The Saints Go Marching On” (and yes I’m not dumb, I know the song says “in”😛)

Ingredients:

1 1/2oz St George Gin
3/4 oz St Germain
2 dashes of orange bitters
Champagne
Garnish: grapefruit twist

Process:

Stir the gin, St. Germain and bitters over ice, then strain into a flute. Top with champagne and garnish with a grapefruit twist (if you measured right, you should have about 50% cocktail mixture and 50% champagne in your glass).

Don’t ring in the new year with a target on your back. Be kind. Be a good friend. Be happy. Be a saint!! And most importantly CELEBRATE life! 🎉🎉

How to: Holiday Spritz (DIY Cocktail Pt. 2)

ADL-15-2

As we approach the final days before Christmas and New Years, you betta be nailing down your aperitif drinks! This Holiday Spritz, I must say, is the perfect alternative to opening with champagne or white wine – hell, it’s actually a combo of the two!

At the ADL Holiday Party last week I was responsible for creating custom cocktails for party guests and the JARDESCA Holiday Spritz was just the ticket! (Hm, did I just say that?! What am I? #lame) Really though, the ease of this recipe combined with festive DIY cocktail station (see Part 1👇), made for the least stressful party I have ever hosted! WOW is right. 💃💃
