Rosé Sangria

sangria1

Looking for a light, refreshing drink this summer? Who isn’t! 😋 LOVE love rosé wine but need a break from the copious amounts you’ve been drinking already?! Who doesn’t! Personally, after 3 days of rosé poolside I can get a little sick of it…and this rose sangria recipe is my perfect solution.👍 This twist on the sunshine wine is arguably better 🙊 for a few reasons:

How to Recover from Lost Baggage

luggage7

Losing luggage abroad is one of my worst nightmares! I can’t actually remember the last time my luggage was lost…until a couple weeks ago on my trip to Greece.😡  You guys mussst have some terrible stories, so figured I had to share my tricks for surviving should this unfortunate event happen to you. 🆘😬

Sometimes you gotta play the hand you were dealt…and I was dealt no clothes. Just my plane outfit, a generic one-size fits-all white tee from Air France’s “care package” and a carry-on full of shoes and sunglasses (seemingly not helpful AT ALL, but ironically very helpful…I’ll explain👇😋).

All About the Entrance

stripe1-2

Greece was eye opening for many reasons and I’m happy to have returned home with some newly acquired “life skills” such as:

  1. Understanding it’s so effing hot in Greece that you shouldn’t let the server pour more then 1/4 of your glass of rosé at a time, or be prepared to drink glög instead 😝🔥🍷
  2. Make babies in Greece as there is the highest concentration of attractive people in the world roaming through Mykonos 💏👍👶👩‍👩‍👧‍👧
  3. When going out somewhere… it’s all about the entrance 💯✨😎

Being THE hottest day in Greece, I was slightly concerned I’d roast to death in this billowy Tome jumpsuit… but this was my moment! 🔝 was MEANT for oceanside rosé drinking – it’s what I got it for! A statement piece at its best, I wasn’t about to waste the “walk-in moment” through Nammos Beach Club from fear of drastically overheating. Whichhhh is when I discovered the seemingly obvious solution of packing a change of outfit!! 🙀🙀: PROBLEM SOLVED (Is that insaneeee?!?) NEVER.😜 So onwards I strut down the sandy walkway to our table and in my bag was a hidden backup outfit incase the sun won. Whatever… it’s all about the entrance. 💥👌 💥

Your entrance is you’re first impression. Whether entering the room of a party or even a small dinner, entering a restaurant or beach club, 99% of the time evvveryone else is staring as you find your place in the room. And that moment matters! Because there’s nothing quite like the feeling of walking into a room with confidence in yourself and your look – be bold & command that room ladies! ⚡💃👑

Nothing makes an entrance quite like a statement jumpsuit, shop my top picks:

4th of July style always runs the possibility of becoming trashy, kitschy or ______ (insert some other word for “not the best” lol). But I was pleasantly surprised with the slew of clothing options this year for sporting Amurrrrica yet also looking fabulous….retro fabulous.😎🌟🇺🇸

My Greece Lookbook

greece1

Just returned from a week long family vacation in Greece today, SO exhausted and being launched into real life like a freakin’ rocket ship on steroids💪🚀😬…not to mention SF Pride shenanigans starting in a couple days…god help me.🙏 But for now, I can blissfully remain in Greek paradise as I flip through all the photos and memories (and outfits😉) made while there.

Trip didn’t start off great when my luggage was lost for days (fun post on that to come later), but in the spirit of turning a negative into a positive I got this new romper (on Air France 😝) from chic Greek label, Monochrome. And luckily, being the insane sunglasses addict that I am, my carry-on was full of 20 pairs.😆 👍 Arguably the most important thing in Mykonos because DAMN it was hot and bright AF. So I am beyonddd glad I had my oversized hat and big ol’ shades to shield me from the blinding sun (indeed amplified by the mornings hangovers). ☀️😎☀️

The days were spent ocean side, sipping fun cocktails and copious amounts of rosé – MAJOR lounging.🍷🌊🍹 This romper was the perfect piece to have because it is light, breezy and most importantly, versatile! As cute swimsuit cover-up for the beach or a complete outfit for going into town at night. SO necessary on any beach vacay. 💁 I love anything blue & white striped during summer, but in Greece it was especially 👌👌👌 not to mention the uber trendy off-the-shoulder look allowed me to get a solid bronze hayyyyy. 😄

“Non-Gross Totally-Cool” Rainbow Gear

rainbow-gear

I’m usually guilty of a lot of things during Pride (for another day 😜) but one thing I WAS definitely guilty of in my “baby gay” days is the terrible over-use of rainbow paraphernalia during Pride weekend. Oopsies. 😬😬 Now that I am an “A-dult” and Pride veteran, I realize that it’s all about the wardrobe flare, the subtle hint of rainbow without the overdose, or basically just a TIGHT getup, and if theres some dazzle dazzle on there, even better. 🌟🌈🌟

But showing you’re pride is much more than a rainbow tutu (yeah I did that too🙄)…Rainbows aren’t alllll about Pride. They are also a sign of happiness, pure effing happiness.. and good living. A sign of hope. 🙏🏼 A hope which we need right now to get us through this unbelievably hearty breaking tragedy in Orlando. A symbol that we can all unite on, no matter the sexual orientation — but honestlyyyy though! Who doesn’t love a  goddamn rainbow!?!?! 🌈🌈🌈🌈👌🏼

Anddddddddddddd not to mention that rainbows are retro and retro is IN.👍🏼🌈 So there is literally not 1 good reason to disregard the rainbow. But I beg you…. PLEASE DO IT IN GOOD TASTE (non of the furry rainbow raver boots and striped rainbow socks that the out of towners sport at pride festivities, kayy people!?) Get on board with the cool rainbow by shopping all my favorite “not too much but just the right amount of rainbow” rainbow products below!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Beer Booze

Beer Rec: Or Xata

xata1

The Facts
Style: Blonde Ale
ABV: 7.2%
Brewer:  The Bruery
Location: Orange County, CA

Wanna impress guests at a back yard BBQ? Need something refreshing to go with your street tacos or that “best burrito ever” from a Mission Taqueria?! Well, the Bruery does it again with another FABulous beer! Meet “Or Xata” and horchata inspired beer thats perfect for any summer day. In fact, I most DEF will pick this up from Whole Foods to go along with an outstanding burrito next time I’m heading to Dolores Park.

TASTE TEST:  Woahhh it smells EXACTLY like horchata! Full of sweet cinnamon rice notes, filling my nose when I stick it in the cup.  On taste it’s definitely sweeter than I would’ve guessed. Again with the cinnamon but also vanilla bean, some creaminess in mouthfeel…maybe even a slight dark cherry on the finish?Even a hint of banana? Heaviest though in the vanilla and cinnamon notes, those are very present. Sweetness is a bittttt overpowering, probably could only have 1-2 glasses of this beer.  Totally cooling my mouth off from this spicy salsa I’m eating 👅🔥💨 haaaah.

I feel like its practically carbonated horchata (and not complaining one bit)! Overall The Bruery is one of my favorite brewers, they just make such solid and uniqe craft beers. Like exactly what the cup said, these guys “rethink craft beer” and I’m thankful for them re-imaging this traditional Mexican drink cause jsut when I thought horchata couldn’t get any more delicious….there’s now a booze version. Amen. 🙌

Happy Sippin’ Sunday! 🍻
