Wanna impress guests at a back yard BBQ? Need something refreshing to go with your street tacos or that “best burrito ever” from a Mission Taqueria?! Well, the Bruery does it again with another FABulous beer! Meet “Or Xata” and horchata inspired beer thats perfect for any summer day. In fact, I most DEF will pick this up from Whole Foods to go along with an outstanding burrito next time I’m heading to Dolores Park.
TASTE TEST: Woahhh it smells EXACTLY like horchata! Full of sweet cinnamon rice notes, filling my nose when I stick it in the cup. On taste it’s definitely sweeter than I would’ve guessed. Again with the cinnamon but also vanilla bean, some creaminess in mouthfeel…maybe even a slight dark cherry on the finish?Even a hint of banana? Heaviest though in the vanilla and cinnamon notes, those are very present. Sweetness is a bittttt overpowering, probably could only have 1-2 glasses of this beer. Totally cooling my mouth off from this spicy salsa I’m eating 👅🔥💨 haaaah.
I feel like its practically carbonated horchata (and not complaining one bit)! Overall The Bruery is one of my favorite brewers, they just make such solid and uniqe craft beers. Like exactly what the cup said, these guys “rethink craft beer” and I’m thankful for them re-imaging this traditional Mexican drink cause jsut when I thought horchata couldn’t get any more delicious….there’s now a booze version. Amen. 🙌
Happy Sippin’ Sunday! 🍻
