If you’ve been following me on Instagram Stories at all, you’ll know that Negronis have integrated themselves into my daily life. Ok fine, maybe not dailyyyy but I would have one everyday (if that wasn’t considering alcoholism šš¬).
They’re basically just the best, at all times, for all occasions. So when I realized they were the base cocktail for a lot of other fun variations I knew I had to learn more, and experiment! Starting off easy though, with just one ingredient swap. In a Negroni, sub the gin for bourbon and you’ve got yourself a Boulevardier!
Plus what a fun name to say! I can’t wait to order it at a bar all fancy and stuff…. “Yes sir, I’ll have a boulevardier. I know, it’s not on your menu but im sure you can whip something up for yours truly” Can’t you see it now?!
Get to mixing! No excuses when there areĀ just 3 ingredients!Ā And I’ll say it again, if you don’t like bourbon or want something a bit lighter, go back to the original gin base.
Ingredients (for 1):
1 1/2 oz Bourbon or Rye (I use Russell’s Reserve)
1 ozĀ Sweet Vermouth
1 ozĀ Campari
Process:
- Pour all ingredients into a rocks glass over 1 large cube. Stir for at least 10 seconds until the glass begins to condensate. (If you’re not an expert at rotating that bar spoon yet, I’d recommend putting everything into a largeĀ mixing glass to give yourself a bit more room for error š).
- Garnish not totally necessary but I love adding a good Luxardo Maraschino CherryĀ (always makes me feel extra fancy at home).Ā Or add a slice of orange peel for daytime drinking.Ā š
Probably the easiest drink to make, next to an old fashioned. Which is also one of the reason why The Boulevardier is one of my go-tos. After all, who wants to spend hours in the kitchen slaving over a drink recipe after work?!! NOT ME! I’m ready to hit the couch and down that sucker!Ā š
Happy Sippin’ Sunday!
