I trust tripels. They are always reliable, delicious, full-bodied and most importantly – better then a Coors 😝 So when I saw this funky label AND the tripel notation I was allllll, SWOOP.
Seemed appropriate at the time… Like the bottle was staring me down… giving me that August, Summer of love, San Francisco, Haight St, warm, rustic, hippie, Outsidelands vibes….which is why I drank it Sunday right before heading to the festival. ☀️✌️
TASTE TEST: Pours a rich caramel color, opaque with sediment inside. Smells like summer by a pool, with chlorine. Nutty, blue moon, orange aromas – even hot pavement. Tastes like a solid tripel. Similar to Chimay but maybe slightly more “watery” if that makes sense? A thinner feeling, minimal carbonation. Hints of strawberry and orange, also like a burnt/rust flavor with an almond cookie aftertaste, maybe the malt in it.
I definitely would recommend this beer to anyone as well las anything in Boulevard’s Smokestack Series. The series is a special collection of bigger, bolder, more complex brews (with higher ABV 🙊) aka my kinda beer!! Go Boulevard! I’m your #1 fan now. 🙋⭐️
Anddddddd last night (in my daily visit to the corner store) I noticed that Boulevard came out with a limited-release seasonal Smokestack beer – a sour ale – I’m just dyyyying to try next!! In fact, I’m going to go pick that up after work today! Done deal. 👍👍
With our Indian Summer just around the corner I’d say Mr. Love Strange is applicable to much more than festivals 😉So go grab yourself a big bottle, share with a friend and join the happy party! Cheers! 👫🍻🌅
