The Take Home Fertility Test

The results are in! I’m fertile! 😜

If you’ve seen my latest blog or some recent social postings, you’ll know I’ve been working with Modern Fertility — a female founded company that believes every woman should have access to their hormone and fertility information earlier in life (or really just whenever you want it).

Typically if you want this info you have to get a bunch of doctor referrals, prove you’ve been trying to conceive and can’t, then pay around $1500. But for $150 you can find out your stats from the couch!

So how did the test go?? Pretty seamlessly!

The kit arrived very organized, with explicit instructions however…I failed to read them thoroughly BEFORE sitting down for the test which was bad because I missed a few key steps that are in preparation for the test and had to delay taking it for another month. So I’m warning YOU now…

  • you have to take the test on day 3 of your period, so plan accordingly.
  • you have to fast for 8 hours before the test so in the morning when you wake up is best
  • make sure you’re hydrated

As far as the finger pricking goes…I’m not squeamish (I watch the doctors when they give me shots) but I did appreciate that Modern Fertility covered the needle because it was def harder to prick myself, even with the needle hidden. Tbh, it also hurt more than I was expecting and made my finger a little sore but overall not bad! A small price to pay for all the info I got out of it!

The results are delivered on your online profile and explained pretty clearly. I learned more about my hormone levels and what each does, how I relate to others in my age group and anything I need to keep an eye  — with suggestions to talk to my doctor about specifics, as needed.

I’m turning 29 in a few weeks and had lots of questions/stress around my “baby clock.” I now feel much more confident and understand when I need to actually begin family planning.

I would highly recommend taking this test if your 30+ and thinking about pregnancy in the near future. If you’re in your 20s, I’d say it’s “nice to have info” but not 100% necessary until you’re approaching 30 or older.

We, as women, deserve to understand our bodies and our fertility journey. So, thank youuuuuuu Modern Fertility for making this accessible for me. This is such a revolutionary idea and a company I can easily get behind.
