Pantones of the Post

If there have been 2 things that really changed my life it would be: joining a hip hop team and getting a grill. 👌

Seriously, haha.

OK fine, and going abroad.

But really getting a grill changed my lifeee. Like if there was Kendall LIFE magazine, my Weber would be the cover of the August issue: “Summertime and the Living is Grilling” 😜

I didnt star this blog with the intention of posting about food really, however grilling is an essential part of my life year-round, not just the summer. So it seemed wildly appropriate to get a few grill posts in here before the summer ends because I want to spread my grill master knowledge to EVERYONE! I acutally think I need to career change into a bbq spokeswomen, maybe a sales rep for Weber because: THEY WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

Ok enough grill praise – plus I will totally elaborate on the benefits of grilling in an upcoming post 😉 …so onto the recipe…

Ingredients:

Steak, tri-tip is my #1 rec but others will do just fine
Butter lettuce
Cherry tomatoes
Gorgonzola or blue cheese
Tri-Tip marinade
Red onion
Balsamic vinaigrette
Artichoke (optional side, I personally love to grill with steak)

Process:

  1. Pour marinade into baggy with meat. Let sit for about an hour (if you can), moving marinade around the baggy and massaging meat occasionally
  2. Start artichokes boiling! Yes, I have learned over time that to grill artichokes it is best to boil them first until close to done so they are tender when you put them on the grill. If you go straight for grill they usually char before getting soft enough to eat. So, VERYYYY important that you steam the artichokes first for 10-15 minutes
  3. Cook the red onion strips in a pan with olive oil and salt for about 10 minutes on medium/high heat. Or until soft but not burned 😛 set aside to cool
  4. Throw steak onto high heat grill. Give it about 3 minutes on each side. Adjust depending on the thickness of the cut and how you like your meat cooked. You can always take a knife to it and peak inside to see if its where you want it! Don’t fret, easy pease!💪
  5. Prep salad in a bowl while steak is cooking, slice tomatoes in half and sprinkle on cheese of choice. Add onions after cooled and dress the salad
  6. When artichokes are done toss them directly onto the grill to finalize cooking and get nice and charred on the outside, we wanna see those grill marks!
  7. Serve salad onto plates, slice steak into thin strips and place on top
  8. Pour yourself a glass of red wine (or 3) and ENJOY! 🍷🍷🍷🍴

I adore steak salads. It’s the perfect summer eve meal because it feels lighter/healthier but the meat gives you some UMPH. Nothing like a freshly grilled streak in your back yard on a hot summer night am I right?! Throw it on some lettuce and tomatoes to make it less heavy and more refreshing… bang! You’re in business! Not to mention its SUCH an easy recipe. Takes like what…5 ingredients?! EASY. ✔️ And like 15-20 minutes. EASY. ✔️

Honestly I just toss everything around…toss the salad into a bowl, toss the steak on the grill, toss the artichokes in a pot. Barely have to lift a finger….just the way I like to cook!!!

(Don’t worry, I’ll dedicate a whole post to grill tips and tricks for each kind of meat soon!!)

Now go get after it! 👊💥
