The Mezcal Paloma

paloma1

I actually cannot believe it’s May already, like wtf. But with the beginning of this beautiful month comes another beautiful holiday… Cinco de Mayo!!! (Although for some of us maybe this day is a bit less beautiful…yeah, I’m talking to you on your 2nd Mexican Bulldog 😬) But since college days are over, I’m trying to stay on the classy side this year with this pretty pink layered, Mezcal Paloma!  💁🍹

Margs are delicious yet expected for the 5th, so why not make people “oooooo” when you whip out your Paloma skills!? It’s just as easy of a cocktail to make, plus…it’s pink so, duh. 💕 This delicious Mexican cocktail takes all of 5 minutes to make – party time!! Traditionally this drink is made with tequila but I LOVE mezcal, and actually prefer it in this cocktail for that little something extra. 💃🔥

Ingredients:

2 oz Mezcal (or tequila blanco)
2 oz grapefruit juice
1/2 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz agave nectar
Splash of soda water
Grapefruit
Salt (Citrus Jalepeño)

Process:

  1. Rub a slice of grapefruit on the rim of a collins or rocks glass, gently dip into plate of salt to get a nice salt rim. Then fill cup with ice.
  2. Mix mezcal, grapefruit juice, lime juice & agave in cocktail shaker with ice, shake well for 10 seconds.
  3. Strain into  glass over ice and add a splash of soda water, about a 2 second pour.
PRO TIP: Gently pour the soda water over the top to achieve the layered colors (those “pretty” brownie points are everything 😉)
  4. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit.

And for the love of god please don’t let your lips touch one of these… after allllll my booze preachin’ you must know by now that WE’RE BETTER THAN THAT! 🙏

Now…get to making or get to sipping, Happy Sippin’ Cinco!! 😆🇲🇽🍹
