Besides the monumental event of the Lexington closing (sadface), most of my time spent out of the house last weekend was at the Cider Summit in the Presidio. Side note: thank god I was out and about for 14 hours straight on Saturday cause that makes me feel 10 times better about renting the latest Hunger Games and sleeping allllll day on Sunday, oops!
But back to the event… I was THRILLED when two of my best friends offered me a ticket to Cider Summit.
My first thought: fuuuuunnnn.
My second thought: omg cute mini taster glasses!
My third thought: hmmmm I wonder how good these ciders will really be.
Preface this with the fact that I am a die hard beer fanatic. That being said, I appreciate liquid craft in all of its forms so I was excited to see what the cider peeps had to offer. So, the verdict??
“I’m DIGGIN thisss.” Within the first couple tastings, I had become a full blown cider convert. Why you ask? Ciders have so much more to offer than the typical, sweet 4.5% bottle you find at the store. Cider houses came out with some SUPER light (I mean lighter than champagne), higher alcohol (we’re talking 9%), and hoppy ciders (literally hopped cider, abbreviated “IPC” by one vendor, haha IPC, get it? more on that one to come). So when I wasn’t busy crushing the cider bowl game and winning bottle openers or shoving a BBQ tri-tip sandwich down my throat, I was gettin’ down with my newfound love for this fermented drink.
Anyway, wrapping up! My personal favorites of the day were: Reverend Nats, Reef Point and 101 Cider House
